The VULKAAN is universal, designed to fit into almost all linear fluorescent armatures, including both watertight and accommodation light fixtures.
No, the VULKAAN does not have EX certifications. Any amendment to a zone 1 fixture will void its certification, however some class associations have approved its use in Zone 2 fixtures.
Yes, the VULKAAN magnets are highly reliable and have been proven through rigorous marine testing as part of the DNV Type Approval process. During certification, the unit was subjected to vibration tests across multiple orientations from 0–100 Hz. At any point where resonance occurred, the vibration was held for two hours to assess stability and durability.
Throughout these tests, the VULKAAN maintained both its luminance and its fixed position on the tray, held solely by its magnets, with no destabilisation. The magnets themselves have an expected lifespan of over 100 years.
The VULKAAN has also been installed on vessels worldwide, including under a deck 5 ramp on a major car carrier where it is exposed to significant shock and vibration. Even in this demanding environment—and without the use of screws—the magnetic mounting remained secure and are still in position and functioning after a number of years.

The VULKAAN maintains a THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) vs load level of 8% across its certified load range, meeting the standard but essential requirements for marine electronic equipment.
Maintaining THD under 8% is critical on vessels because excessive harmonic distortion can lead to, at best, overheating, reduced equipment lifespan, interference with navigation and communication systems, and instability in sensitive electronic loads but can result in failure of main propulsion engines if left undetected.
Thanks to its high-power factor and robust electrical design, the VULKAAN keeps THD consistently low even when driving the LED power down to historically low levels, and is fully marine type-approved for use in demanding environments.
The VULKAAN’s LED boards have a 72,000-hour life, which is 8.5 years when used 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with unmatched light output.
The VULKAAN delivers exceptional energy savings because it has been expertly engineered through close triangulated collaboration between DNV, the driver manufacturer, and our own development team. This process allowed us to achieve 40% more light output compared to typical fluorescent luminaires while keeping power consumption lower than any other manufacturer in the market and ensuring the THD vs. load remains within required marine limits.
Unlike similar marine LED solutions, which commonly run at 18W or 36W, the VULKAAN achieves approximately 40% more illumination at just 12W or 22W, making it 36% more efficient. Combined with full marine type approval, the VULKAAN stands out as the most energy-efficient option available in its class.
